Pat Savage

I was born and raised in the Ottawa ON area, became a registered nurse, bride, mother, all in a short span, or so it seems now.
I had always been interested in arts and crafts (sewing my own clothes from the age of 10) and passed my knowledge on to our two girls.
I have made candles, antiqued furniture, studied ceramics in Chilliwack, studied pottery in Deep River, done weaving, hooking, knitting classes in the Netherlands, studied glass art in Surrey (lamp working and fusion), painted watercolours in Belgium with Chrysiis Vassalou (a highly respected artist from Greece).
In Delta, I studied acrylic painting with Jackie Wishlow for two years.
I have taught pottery methods in Tiruchigudi in southern India.
I studied the art of framing in Brunssum, Netherlands, taking three, 12-week courses.
I learned how to put waste paper to good use by producing hand-made paper from beets, bananas, asparagus, lemons and seaweed.
I learned to paint on silk in Brussels, Belgium.

In between all that, I got a diploma and an Hon. BA in Psychology and worked in psycho-therapy for years, during which time these art diversions became very important, for my own well-being.
In retirement, I have kept busy with as many activities as space allows, mostly working with acrylics and mixed-media, glass art and framing, while volunteering at the Surrey Art Gallery Association Gift Shop and serving on the Surrey Art Gallery Association board of Executives.

Since retiring here in BC’s Lower Mainland, I have participated in a number of art shows:

Show In The Vineyard, Rivers’ Bend Winery, 2007
Creative Spirits Art Show at Eagle Quest Golf Course, 2008
Fort Langley Saturday Markets, 2008, 2009
Surrey Art Gallery Christmas Show and Sale 2009
Country Christmas self-guided Tour (2008, 2009, 2010 ) near Nanaimo on Vancouver Island with Cedar and Yellow Point Artisans’ Assn.
Brass Band Art Group, Art and Organics Show and Sale, 2010
Brass Band Art Group at Cloverdale Blueberry Festival, 2011

I am a member of Arts West, Surrey Art Gallery Association, and Surrey Arts Council through the Brass Band Art Group, and my own business is called Dragonfly Craft Design.
